[They are stubborn. They're very stubborn, especially when it comes to adults. But Marco's explanation at least has him thinking on it a little. He's...one of the Fourth God's friends. One of his adult friends. And he'd be embarrassed if he had to tell him that he lost his card. That's not like adults, usually. But...unfortunately for Marco, he has someone he doesn't want to disappoint. So it's important to keep the card.
However, that's not something he's going to tell him. Actually, he's going to zero in on something the other man said.]
...it's not the right thing. He's trying to kill monsters. He's trying to kill Shingetsu-kun. And it's not his fault he's a monster. So why does he have to be hurt for it?
[It just reeks of what the adults back home did. It wasn't their fault that they acted the way they did, but instead of trying to help them, the adults just labeled them as problems and punished them. Child or not, what he's doing isn't right.]
[Marco gets that look on his face that adults get sometimes when they have to explain something complicated to a kid, like why their goldfish is swimming belly-up, or why the good guys didn't win in Titanic.]
He's not... trying to kill monsters, exactly... [He wrings his hands.] Not deliberately. But... monsters have a lot of the Fog God's power in them, see, and that's the problem. Driving it out might turn out a little painful. For that reason.
B-But it's going to be fine once it's all over. [He tries a smile. It's not the most enthusiastic one.] Everyone is going to be safe.
[He frowns, wanting to argue further. But...there's probably no point. As nice as Marco can be, he's still an adult. Once adults are convinced of something, there's nothing you can do to change their mind. Especially if you're a child. You're just wrong, or you don't understand, or you're too young.
So sorry Marco but this is where you two part ways! Meaning he's just going to duck his head a little and walk past you. As far as he's concerned, the Fourth God is trying to kill Nagisa. And if you can't see that, then he's got nothing to say to you right now.
Also you're not getting your card back!!!! So don't bother following him got it?]
But hey, at least plan C seems to be working? Or if nothing else, it's getting him to pause in his walking, just slowing down a little until coming to a stop. Huh...what's he humming? He's never heard it before but...it's kinda nice. Nice enough that he's gonna peek at the other man over his shoulder, clearly curious but not quite willing to just turn around and talk to him again.
That'll change pretty quick though if Marco keeps going.]
[Well luckily for him, his last plan is the one that's going to work. Jataro is almost mesmerized as the song goes on, and that slight suggestive chance to the lyrics does exactly what they're meant to do. He doesn't seem the slightest bit apprehensive as he turns around, approaching the man again...]
["Hand it over" he does, slipping his hand into the pocket on his apron and producing the key card Marco wants. And then he holds it out, still seemingly mesmerized. How rude of you! Taking advantage of him like this! Once he snaps out of it....well he'll probably just be more confused than anything...]
Thank you, [he whispers, gently taking the card and putting it back in his own pocket. Even more quietly, he whispers an apology; used as he is to hypnotizing people like this, he can't help feeling guilty about it, even when feeding isn't involved in the equation. It's manipulation, pure and simple; it's wrong.
Still, he continues humming as he walks away, until he's far enough not to be heard. He still needs to get away, after all.]
[For shame! You could at least face the kid after hypnotizing him and taking what he rightfully stole from you first!!! At least luckily for him Jataro doesn't have a super sniffer or anything. As good as he is at chasing people once he's spotted them, if they lose him he's not good at tracking them down again. Enjoy your safety you monster.]

He won't follow Jataro. He won't even look at him. Instead, he'll try something he isn't even sure will work on another mer.
He hums the first melody that's come to mind.]
