Wait, no. Something isn't right. If this were an act of vengeance, or... anything that might warrant Marco putting his guard up... Why would Atem be asking about the parasite, rather than the portal?
Marco won't be letting his guard down... but he intends to remind himself he could be overthinking this, too.]
Well, it seemed to be looking for the portal's power source for sustenance. I imagine it was the only place it could find anything like it. The power source was a stone vessel that stored energy from the sun and seemingly had no connection to the Fog God's power whatsoever.
When it was found, the stone was completely untouched by the Fog God's power. We changed that. We tainted sorry, altered it by applying several monster abilities to it. Apparently, the parasite couldn't handle the new form the energy had taken on, and this is what killed it.
I know the parasites don't like people with Fog powers. I suppose that, since monster abilities come from the Fog...that was enough to poison the queen.
Did its death lead to the seemingly spontaneous deaths of the smaller ones?
I was! It was the first time for me, but I know creatures like them have attacked before. So, I'm sharing information!
Thanks for telling me what happened with the portal. Sorry it didn't work out! But it didn't cause peninsula-wide disaster, so you're clearly doing something right. It probably has to do with participation being voluntary...

[No point hiding the fact that he's the guy who got sacrificed for Daniel's Fourth portal, but he's also not making a big deal out of it.]
I'll settle for a description of the events. What happened when [he types then has to delete "she"] it attacked?

But
Ultimately, we had to irreversibly alter and destroy the stone to defeat the creature.
[Of course, it's very much not the Mother Hydra that Marco is mourning.]
<Player1>
I'll lay my cards on the table, Mr. Marco -- I want to know how it was killed, so that if anything like this happens again, I'm better informed!

Just Marco is fine, by the way.

I'm no biologist, but I'm guessing they were either some sort of hive-based organism or all part of a singular creature.
Does that help?
<Player1>
And, if it helps you, I can confirm that they were indeed a hive-mind, serving someone they thought of as Mother.
I presume that's the one you encountered.
<marco>
Were you
attacked?
I'm sorry.

Thank you.
I'd never force this on anyone, of course.
There are many people who don't even WANT to go home.
