[For a moment, it might seem like Marco is dazed. The words Kira is saying wander in and out of his attention at first as he tries to ground himself back where he's supposed to be. He tries to mumble an apology a few times - "I didn't mean to go off on you like that, sorry, terribly sorry" - but, every time, he lets Kira talk over him instead.

By the time Kira starts picking up the pieces, Marco feels more or less like his limbs belong to him again. He crouches to help him, but there are only two big, torn pieces. He doesn't have to.

He has, once again, failed to help.]

Please don't do that. [But his words are quiet - he knows Kira probably won't listen.

After a moment of silence, he goes on.] I've killed... a couple. Of her followers, I mean. [He doesn't think it was wrong, exactly, but both times, he panicked. No matter why he kills, he knows he's only allowing the Fog God to distort his soul further.] I got fired from my previous job for it - but, but that wasn't enough for her, no. [This time, he means a different "her". It not being clear doesn't occur to him.] She had a friend ambush me and knock me out, and then they... they...

[He rubs the crook of one arm with another hand. They tortured him to death. And they expect that to make him stop.

Kira seems to be a man of action. A part of Marco can't help hoping he can direct that drive to nobler things than killing innocent women. He can't help wondering how he would feel about the Obelisk plans, either...

But no, he can't let him know ahead of time. It's too risky. Anybody could be listening.]
